I am not naturally a patient person, but I've made significant strides in developing this virtue. Patience has been a work in progress for me, and I often feel like the world constantly tests me, providing countless opportunities to practice and improve.
Patience as Endurance
Understanding patience as a form of endurance has been a game-changer for me. Just as one can build tolerance for running long distances, one can also build tolerance for life's various challenges. My military service taught me some patience, and my experiences with the VA helped me develop it even further.

The Challenge of Keeping Composure
It's incredibly challenging to maintain patience when it feels like everything is pushing me to my limits. As Mahatma Gandhi wisely said, "To lose patience is to lose the battle." These days, these are the only battles I wage. Moreover, losing patience often results in appearing irrational or even insane to those around us.

The Bitter and Sweet of Patience
Jean-Jacques Rousseau's words resonate with me deeply: "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet." The journey to cultivating patience is tough, but the rewards are worthwhile.
